Pengolahan Minyak Jelantah Menjadi Sabun Untuk Menekan Resiko Hipertensi Dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat

Abstract

The poverty rate in Bondowoso Regency which reaches 12.60% has implications for people's lifestyles, one of which is in the form of the habit of using used cooking oil repeatedly. The low public understanding of the negative impact of used cooking oil not only increases health risks, especially hypertension which occupies high cases in the Maesan Health Center area, but also adds to environmental pollution due to careless oil disposal. The 2025 University of Jember KKN program in Sumber Pakem Village focuses on the use of used cooking oil into environmentally friendly soap as a health, environmental, and economic solution. Activities include socialization of the dangers of using used cooking oil and the practice of making solid soap through the process of purification, boiling with pandan leaves, saponification reactions, printing, and curing. As a result, the soap produced is suitable for use while having economic value. This program has succeeded in increasing public awareness of health, providing environmentally friendly alternatives to household waste management, and opening up simple business opportunities that support community empowerment. The use of used cooking oil into environmentally friendly solid soap not only functions as a health and environmental solution, but also as a means of empowering the community's economy in a sustainable manner. This KKN program proves that an educational approach based on community participation is able to create simple innovations that have a wide impact and can be replicated in other regions with similar problems.
